Smile train - Cleft lip and palate surgery Programme.

Apart from our leadership in various treatment initiatives, TATA Motors Hospital has also been a flagbearer of the TATA spirit of charity and welfare in the society at large, as evident by our various CSR activities.

One of the most successful programs undertaken by us is the free treatment of patients of Cleft Lip and Cleft Palate, in association with Smile Train India and Parivar Kalyan Sansthan, the CSR wing of TATA Motors, Jamshedpur. Under the encouragement of Mr. Ravikant, ex-MD and Vice-chairman of TATA Motors, the first such program was undertaken in April, 2012 at our hospital and a total of 7 children suffering from cleft lip/ cleft palate were operated free of cost. The patients belonged to the surrounding areas and were unable to afford treatment on their own. All the children went home with a smile on their lips within two days, and there were no complications. Encouraged by our success, we established a full-fledged partnership with Smile Train India, and have conducted twelve camps till date with one hundred children cured of their affliction without any problems. Eminent plastic surgeons from around the country have been associated with our efforts.

We now conduct the program at two-monthly intervals, and accept all patients suffering from cleft lip or cleft palate.

Well Baby Clinic - Infant health and immunization.

Well Baby Clinic is the Immunization center run by AIWC, Golmuri branch on Tuesday, Thursday & Friday from 1-30pm to 3-30 pm. All vaccines as per National Immunization Schedule are given to children from birth up to 10yrs of age. Both employee and non-employee patients (after one time registration charge) are vaccinated free of cost. Child specialists from Dept. of pediatrics, Tata Motors Hospital are available for fitness checkup during vaccination.

Measurement of height, weight & head circumference of children is done before vaccination. Diet advice is given to all enrolled children in every visit by AIWC volunteers. Vaccines available are BCG, OPV, Hepatitis B, Pentavalent , Measles, MMR, & DT/ TT which are kept in ILR ( ice lined Refrigerator ) to maintain cold chain.

Injections are given by trained vaccinator under guidance of Pediatrician. First aid & emergency kit for AEFI (adverse event following immunization) are available there.

School Health Programme - Township school health check.

Health Examination of new entrants to Telco aided schools are conducted regularly throughout the year in collaboration of SPK ( Siksha Prasar Kendra , Tata Motors Ltd ) . Main objective is preventive action & early detection of health hazard in children. Child Specialist from Dept. of Pediatrics, Tata Motors Hospital with support of nursing students from Jeevan Jyoti School of nursing conduct these checkups.

There are over 21 schools & almost 1500 students are covered every year. Children who require further treatment are advised to attend pediatric OPD at Tata Motors hospital.
